Ace and Ember -Kate Crew

I loved watching Aidan and Evie together in the first book of the series, but somehow they were even better in this one.

The slow burn between them was absolutely worth the wait. Aidan is constantly trying to be "good," fighting every instinct he has, while Evie fully embraces the chaos that earned her the nickname "Psycho." The contrast between them made every interaction entertaining because you never knew if they were about to argue, flirt, or completely derail whatever was happening around them. Their banter was easily one of my favorite parts of the book. Even when they were fighting, I couldn't help but smile.

As chaotic as Evie is, Aidan never loses sight of what matters most to him: her. His protectiveness wasn't overbearing, it was instinctive. No matter what was happening around them, Evie was always his first priority, putting her first over and over again.

The chemistry wasn't the only driver of the story. The entire group brought so much personality to every scene. Their teasing, conversations, and friendships made the world feel lived in, and they balanced the heavier moments perfectly.

Just when I thought I had a handle on where the story was going, another surprise would pop up. There were several twists and revelations I never saw coming, and they kept me completely invested until the very end.

Aidan and Evie were everything I wanted them to be in this book: chaotic, hilarious, protective, and completely obsessed with each other. If I loved them in book one, this book made me love them even more. I received this book as an ARC and am leaving this honest review voluntarily.
