Louis and Camille have feelings for each other that run incredibly deep, but both of them try their hardest to ignore them for the sake of Camille’s brother. That restraint creates this constant tension where every glance, every interaction, and every moment together pushes those feelings right back to the surface.
Camille is definitely the more aggressive of the two, constantly pushing Louis and testing his control until he slowly starts giving in piece by piece. And every time he does, the chemistry between them only becomes more intense.
What I really loved was that Camille’s struggles weren’t only centered around Louis. She’s also trying to figure out who truly belongs in her life, learning which friendships aren’t as healthy as she thought and which relationships are actually worth holding onto tighter. That added another emotional layer to her growth throughout the story.
The push and pull between Louis and Camille was everything. It wasn’t straightforward or easy, but neither of them could stop thinking about the other. And hearing Louis’s POV made the story even better because there is just something about reading a man completely gone for a woman.
The last part of the book completely surprised me. I wasn’t expecting everything that happened, but it ended up being exactly what the story needed. I loved that this wasn’t simply a “stay away until suddenly together” romance. There were real obstacles, emotional growth, and bigger complications that made their journey feel so much more satisfying and addictive to read. I received this book as an ARC an am leaving this review voluntarily.
The reassurance hangs between us, fragile but genuine, a promise that I will not give up easily, no matter what challenges we face.
