This is one of those stories where it feels like not a lot happens on the surface, but at the same time, so much happens on the underlayers. The emotional weight carried through every chapter, especially when it came to Mara.
Her family’s treatment of her was devastating, and somehow even worse than in Book 1. It was difficult to read at times because you could feel how much it was breaking her down. I found myself struggling right alongside her, feeling that same heaviness.
And then there were her men. When she was with them, there was this sense of relief. The way each of them showed her what she meant to them was so personal and unique to who they are, which made their connection feel even more real. Those moments felt like a breath of air in the middle of everything she was going through.
This book had me emotionally all over the place. I was anxious about what was coming next, constantly bracing for the next hurdle, and completely panicked about how everything would play out.
The ending was unexpected, but still felt a satisfying way to end their story. I received this story as an ARC and am leaving this honest review voluntarily.
Feel that? That's me telling you exactly how much I want you, without saying a goddamn thing.
