Tessa and Blake met in childhood, growing up connected through her brother Ryker, who is one of Blake’s closest friends. That shared history adds a deeper layer to their relationship, making their connection feel genuine and rooted long before the story even begins.

Tessa’s resilience throughout the book was incredible. Even while dealing with an unknown illness, she continues her job and pushes forward with quiet strength. Blake, on the other hand, has a reputation for being a man without emotions. Yet when it comes to Tessa, that completely shifts. His determination to help her was captivating.

Blake’s friends, the Saints and Sinners Club, are exactly the kind of friend group you want. When things start happening and support is needed, they all show up for each other without hesitation. Even when Ryker and Blake have their moments of tension, the loyalty within the group and their commitment to protecting one another always comes first.

I listened to the audiobook version, narrated by Aiden and Brook, and they did an amazing job bringing these characters to life. Aiden’s voice perfectly captured Blake’s personality while still giving the other men distinct tones. Brook added so much emotion to Tessa’s character, especially in the moments where her illness weighed on her. When they narrated scenes together, the pairing worked beautifully.

Tessa and Blake’s story brings together romance, intrigue, mystery, and defiance in a way that kept me completely invested. This book delivers so much emotion and tension while still building a relationship you want to root for the entire time. I received this book as an ALC and am leaving this honest review voluntarily.

That wall? That's me trying desperately to keep you safe.
