This one had me locked in from the start. Naomi’s story pulls at you right away. There’s this quiet strength to her, even when things start unraveling. She doesn’t have an easy path, and some of what she goes through is heavy. But what stood out was her resilience. She bends, but she doesn’t break.
And then there’s Nico. He is chaos in human form. Unhinged, a little reckless… the kind of character who walks into a scene and shifts the entire energy. He starts off with control, but somewhere along the way, it stops being a game for him. The obsession creeps in, and suddenly everything revolves around her.
Their dynamic is charged and rooted in power and tension. You can feel the pull between them, even when they’re fighting it or pretending it’s something else.
Outside of them, the story expands into something bigger. This isn’t just about Nico and Naomi. It’s about the family and the threats circling in the background. There are twists and that constant feeling that something bigger is happening just beneath the surface.
Stephen and Emery did an amazing job bringing these characters to life, but Stephen… his voice is everything. Especially in the more intimate moments, the intensity in his delivery is just on another level. The tone, the control, the pacing, it all comes together in a way that makes those scenes feel incredibly immersive.
Overall… it’s addictive. Dark, messy, and completely consuming in that way where you keep saying “just one more chapter”… and suddenly you’re way too far in to turn back. I received this book as an ALC and am leaving this honest review voluntarily.
She makes me insatiable. Consumed with mad need for her.
