Cali is on a mission, and because her counterpart knows just how stubborn she can be, Mason and his team are brought in to help her. The small bit of history between Cali and Mason is all it takes to spark tension, fireworks, and plenty of drama between them.

Cali’s determination to go at it alone at the beginning, even wanting to leave Mason’s team behind, was a little frustrating. Her reasons made sense, but it was clear from the start that they would be stronger working together. Mason’s immediate instinct to protect her was admirable. It never came across as him seeing her as incapable. Instead, it felt like genuine concern because he simply didn’t want anything to happen to her.

My favorite moments in the book were the Cali and Mason time (and no that isn’t a spicy thing). It was the quieter moments where their defenses dropped and you could see who they really were underneath all the tension. Their constant bickering and push-and-pull dynamic ran through the entire story, and it made their romance feel natural, intense, and incredibly fun to watch unfold. I received this book as an ARC and am leaving this honest review voluntarily.

As much as I needed normal, Cali craved it, and I wanted to be the one who gave it to her.
