unique advent calendar

For as long as I can remember, we've followed the tradition of the chocolate-filled advent calendar. It's a sweet and simple way to build excitement as we approach Christmas. A few years ago, we tried something different: a coloring advent calendar. The kids absolutely loved it! It added an artistic twist to our daily countdown, allowing them to color beautiful holiday scenes and make each day uniquely their own.

This year, I wanted to break from tradition again while still preserving the sense of excitement and anticipation that comes with counting down to Christmas. So, I hatched a plan to craft an advent calendar that would be filled with surprises that were just as exciting as chocolate but offered a different kind of thrill.

To start, I purchased a set of small boxes, one for each day of December leading up to Christmas. The next step was to fill these boxes with random items I found online. Here's the twist – I set myself a budget limit of no more than $2 per item. This not only added an element of surprise for the kids but also made it a fun challenge for me to curate unique and affordable items.

The beauty of this unique advent calendar lies in the element of surprise. Each day, my kids eagerly open the box to discover a new trinket or tiny gift. It could be anything from a mini puzzle to a package of stickers, a funny keychain, or even a festive eraser. The possibilities are endless, and that's what makes it so enjoyable.

The kids have been having a blast trying to predict what each day's surprise might be. The thrill of unwrapping a small, inexpensive but thoughtful item has added a new layer of excitement to our holiday season. It's a fun twist that keeps the tradition fresh and engaging.
