The blurb describes this book as a reimagining of the Hades and Persephone myth, so I went in expecting the focus to be solely on those two characters. What I got was so much more. There were additional characters, layered storylines, and unexpected situations that made the book far more exciting than I anticipated.
Kore goes through so much in this story, not physically, but internally. Her journey is filled with realizations as she uncovers truths about herself and the things that have been hidden from her. Watching her piece everything together was incredibly satisfying. And Hades? He was intense from the very beginning. The way he slowly crumbles for her, especially toward the end, was absolute perfection. I devoured their banter, their conversations, and every scene they shared. Every time the POV shifted away from them, I found myself wanting more.
I wasn’t sure how I felt about Dora or that particular plotline at first, but it ended up being a great way to introduce additional characters and expand the world. By the time I reached the end, everything clicked into place beautifully. There were also a few other characters I completely loved, but I’ll keep quiet on that to avoid spoilers.
This book is packed with secrets, revelations, and twists that make every page feel purposeful. Each chapter pulled me deeper into the story, and every page turn felt earned. I received this as an ARC, and this review is entirely my honest opinion.
But you made a mistake letting me. have you. because I'll be all you ever know.
