I absolutely love Jagger’s work, and this book did not disappoint.
From the start, you can tell Dove has been through a lifetime of pain, and somehow the hits just keep coming. The more the layers peeled back, the more I felt like I needed to take notes to keep up. Her story is so intricately written that every new reveal had me questioning everything I thought I knew.
And then there’s Bane. Moody, grumpy, and absolutely magnetic. I loved watching his instincts shift the longer he was around Dove. Just when I thought I had him figured out, his twists dropped, and I realized I knew nothing. His secrets shocked me almost as much as hers.
The amount of chaos, danger, and twists packed into this book was wild. Every time I thought I finally had a grip on the plot, another curveball hit and completely knocked the ship off balance. Jagger is a master of tension, and this book was a nonstop ride. And that ending? A full-on jaw-dropper. I just sat there blinking at my screen.
Some of the extra touches I adored included Bane’s dad being ridiculously sweet with Dove, one of the moments between Dove and Evie, and the cameo with Taylor and Fumi, I literally grinned. And yes… the spice was unreal on top of everything else going on. This book kept me hooked, shocked, emotional, and fully invested the entire way through. I received this ARC, and am leaving this review voluntarily.
I'm incapable of anything but loving you. that's my flaw.
