Whenever the story is told from Ryker’s perspective, you cannot deny the intensity of his feelings for Faith. Everything he does is for her, and that alone was enough to keep me turning pages. There’s so much more happening beneath the surface, and every chapter pulls you in deeper without giving anything away too soon.
Faith has never had anyone in her life who truly stayed or genuinely cared for her, and because of that, she doesn’t want to pull anyone into her chaos. I loved how she tried to remain humble and protect others, even when she deserved protection herself. And honestly, how could she not feel Ryker’s protectiveness? That man absolutely radiated it.
The trials and trauma Faith endured as a child were heartbreaking. I especially loved watching the growing relationship between her and Blake. The number of times he showed concern for his sister added up quickly, and every moment of it made me smile.
Axel completely stole the show for me. His comments in the group chats had me cracking up, especially when it came to the whisk. Trust me, when you get there, you’ll understand. Even Jace had a few one-liners that genuinely made me giggle.
This book delivered so many emotions at once: hope that the case would be solved, excitement over Ryker being completely head over heels, relief that Faith was no longer alone, and anger toward those who abused their power against her and her case. It was an emotional, engaging read that kept me fully invested. I received this book as an ARC and am leaving this review voluntarily.
Maybe I'm making the biggest mistake of my career. But I'm not walking away to find out.
