Anytime a protector falls, it’s instantly swoon-worthy — and Damian is no exception. The story jumps straight into the action and never loses momentum, balancing danger with a genuine emotional core.

Watching a tough man not only protect a woman but care deeply for her son is incredibly endearing. Their relationship feels earned, full of unspoken trust and small moments of comfort that make the heavier scenes hit even harder.

I appreciated that both characters bring something meaningful to the story: Damian carries the weight of his past, and Elena embodies a mother’s fierce determination to protect her child. As a mother myself, I completely understood her frustration with Miguel being moved so often, but I also admired how she learns to trust Damian’s protection. It’s that push and pull between fear and faith that gives their story real emotional depth.

Damian’s reluctance to admit his feelings stems from more than fear, it’s about vulnerability. Seeing a man built from duty slowly allow himself to love, to need, was deeply satisfying. And the way they both find safety in each other adds warmth that balances the tension perfectly.

Because I don't lose, not when it matters. And you both matter more than anything.
