Atlas moves to Idlewild after receiving an anonymous letter that leads her there. She starts working at a garage run by the Kings, including Rowdy, even though she has no idea why it is important that she is there. She only knows there is something she needs to uncover.

Their first meeting was intense. The fact that Rowdy refused to listen to her made me want to slap him. Honestly, everything between Atlas and Rowdy in the beginning is pretty toxic. When they fight, they fight hard. When they love, it is all-consuming. But from the very start, Rowdy clearly has his eye on her, no matter how much they clash.

In typical man fashion, he tries to push her buttons. What surprised me most was Atlas’s reaction. She does not hold back at all and fully lets him know how she feels. I was proud of her, even if her response was sometimes a little over the top. It was interesting that Rowdy’s friends barely commented on their age gap, while all the women had plenty to say. As hard as everyone tried to keep them apart, once Rowdy was invested, he stayed completely focused on her.

The underlying plot was intriguing and kept me wanting to know how everything would unfold. There were some moments of “oh my goodness” that were difficult to read, but the way they handled those situations was better than I expected. There is also a scene involving FF and FFM, so just a heads-up for readers. I was not expecting the ending. I had a general sense of where things might go, but there was one part I truly did not see coming. And that epilogue? Absolutely everything.

The narrators of the audiobook were amazing. I have a feeling if I read the book, it wouldn’t have felt the same. But with Myles, Simone, and Ja'Air, the book felt right to listen to. They embodied the characters in everyway. Thanks to Tantor Media for providing this audiobook for review consideration via NetGallery. I am leaving this honest review voluntarily.

You temper this animal inside of me Dream, but you match it too.
