I knew this was the first book in a trilogy, so I was prepared for a cliffhanger — but I was not prepared for what this story would put me through.
Kade is consumed by darkness and surrounded by violence, yet I loved every second of him. The more you learn about him, the more your heart aches. He became this version of himself out of survival, not choice, and that makes his pain hit even harder.
Stacey’s life has never been easy, but her past with Kade was the one thing that gave her light. He was devoted to her, willing to move mountains for her, and seeing what they’ve become now is absolutely heartbreaking. There were moments I wanted to jump into the pages and pull them together, to make them finally talk it out.
I’m completely invested in this series. It’s obvious how much they need each other — and as much as I like Stacey, I’m especially drawn to Kade. I want to see him find redemption and retribution, maybe because he’s Tobias’s son, or maybe because his pain feels so raw and real. Still, Stacey deserves peace and closure too — if not for them, then for my heart.
She's the girl I watch, the girl I obsess over until I feel like I'm going ****** insane.
