Bea and Indy spent months together years previous while she was his physical therapist, and during that time, Indy quietly developed feelings he never shared. So when news breaks that Bea is suspected of murder, he immediately knows something is wrong. Having known her so well, he recognizes that nothing about this situation makes sense.

Without hesitation, Indy gathers his team and crosses the country to make sure Bea isn’t wrongfully thrown in jail. His actions are incredibly gallant, even if his execution isn’t perfect. I completely understood Bea’s frustration when she wakes up to realize he took her without explaining, but with time working against them, hesitation wasn’t an option. From that moment on, the entire book centers around Indy’s devotion to Bea. His worry and protectiveness run deep; the smallest injury unsettles him, and if she’s hurt in any way, he’s immediately there to care for her.

Bea’s reactions throughout the story felt valid and real. I felt for her every step of the way. I also loved that she had the rest of the Blade and Arrow Shadow Team on her side, not just for protection, but as support and safe places during everything they faced. While Bea is strong, she’s also vulnerable, and I really appreciated that balance. Her emotions are tangible, and watching her process everything added depth to both her character and her developing relationship with Indy.

There were so many moments in this story that surprised me. Even when I knew more was coming based on where I was in the book, I never quite knew what it would be. The plot continued to unfold in a way that felt full and intentional, never dragged out or rushed. It made for a satisfying, well-rounded story that left me fully invested from start to finish.  I received this book as an ARC and am leaving this honest review voluntarily.

Perfect is what you make it. And this? This can be perfect. For us.
