Sadie’s books are always amazing, but The Auction felt like a step above. I listened to the audiobook, and once I started, I couldn’t stop. I finished it in one day because it completely pulled me in.

The premise feels uncomfortable at first. Reading about a human auction isn’t easy, even knowing that going in. But as the story unfolds and you begin to understand what’s really happening behind the scenes, it shifts into something much more layered, and you start to see the bigger picture.

Imogen’s innocence is what truly makes this story. Her naivety allows her to feel everything fully and openly, and because of that, you experience everything right alongside her. Every moment feels heightened, whether it’s confusion, fear, curiosity, or something more. It made her journey incredibly powerful, and I found myself deeply attached to her.

Lincoln’s internal conflict was just as compelling. He knows what he should do, but he also knows what he wants, and watching him struggle between those two sides was so well written. He tries to be the “good guy,” and that effort adds depth to his character and brings out a more emotional side than you typically see. He understands the weight of the situation and doesn’t take any of it lightly.

The connection between them builds gradually, which made everything feel earned. Imogen begins to open up to both the situation and to Lincoln, while he slowly lowers his guard for her. Watching both of them change and meet in the middle was one of the most satisfying parts of the story.

And the audiobook… Greyson and June absolutely brought this to life. Greyson captured Lincoln’s intensity perfectly, while June made every one of Imogen’s emotions feel real and immediate. Their performances made it impossible to stop listening.

That ending, though… I was not prepared. I will absolutely be picking up the next book the second it’s released. I received this book as an ALC and am leaving this honest review voluntarily.

And also, I miss her. I really f***ing miss her.
