tray decor

Diamond art involves placing hundreds of tiny, multicolored resin "diamonds" onto a sticky canvas to create a stunning, shimmering design. Once the project is complete, there are normally leftover diamonds and I never wanted to get rid of them. During one of my Dollar Tree outings, I came across a small wooden tray. I didn’t have a purpose for it at the time, but looking at the little diamonds, I had a thought.

I poured the diamonds onto the tray to get an idea and immediately I loved the randomness. I picked up each diamond one by one and placed them onto the tray in no particular order. I am very much an orderly person, so the chaos was nerve racking to me. However, the vibrant colors created a beautiful mosaic effect.

As I got a few lines in, I wanted to add something to it so it wasn’t just the diamonds. I printed my ajh using the Cricut and placed it in the center. I abutted the diamonds to it so it was sunken, but it added a little character to the pieces. I used Tacky Glue and covered, I mean covered, the tray and diamonds in it. It left a really nice shine.

Once the glue had dried, I placed my dazzling creation on my desk. I added some little decorations because what is a tray without something on it to hold. Turning my surplus diamond art gems into a desk decoration was a fun and creative project. It's a testament to the idea that inspiration can be found in the most unexpected places, even in the form of leftover materials.
