Lie to Me - M. C. Stokes

Flynn and Jesse made me feel absolutely everything. I was happy when they were together, felt the struggle when they couldn’t figure things out, got angry when one of them was acting like a butt, and wanted to shake them both when they weren’t being honest with each other. It was obvious from the start that these two were end game, but getting there was such an emotional ride.

What starts by chance quickly becomes something neither of them can walk away from. Flynn knows it before Jesse is ready to admit it, and I loved that he had no intention of letting Jesse go. Jesse tries so hard to convince himself he should walk away, but he just can’t. Watching him fight what was so clearly meant for him was equal parts frustrating and heartwarming.

Flynn being protective of his real self made so much sense, which is why the way and timing of how he revealed who he was hit hard. It felt vulnerable, intentional, and honestly perfect for their story. And the things Flynn did for Jesse… unbelievable in the best way. Through his actions, big and small, Jesse never had to question how much he was cared for. That kind of devotion was incredibly moving to read.

Watching them finally figure it out made every frustrating, emotional, heart-pulling moment worth it. I couldn’t put this book down and read it nonstop. It was so addictive, so full of heart, and touched me in so many places that I know I won’t be forgetting Flynn and Jesse anytime soon. I received this book as an ARC and am leaving this honest review voluntarily.

Something deep within my psyche was engrossed with him. Obsessed with him.
